Can I license the Premise Language for my own product?
Premise is open source for research and development use. Commercial licensing for embedded or redistributed use is available — contact us at pl******@********ht.ai to discuss terms.
What makes Premise Language different from Python or other AI frameworks?
Most AI frameworks are general-purpose tools adapted for machine learning. Premise is purpose-built for cognitive agent behavior — it has native constructs for perception, memory, goals, and deliberation that you’d have to manually architect in Python. Think of it as the difference between using a hammer to drive a screw versus using a screwdriver.
Can SubThought work with our existing hardware?
Almost certainly yes. Our platform is hardware-agnostic — designed to run across x86, ARM, RISC-V, and edge TPU architectures.

Does SubThought work on the actual device — not just in the cloud?
Yes. The GILs runtime is designed to run directly on the device — whether that’s a robot on a factory floor, a drone in the field, or an embedded system with limited processing power. SubThought is hardware-agnostic and runs on everything from cloud servers down to ARM-based edge hardware like NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi. The intelligence lives where it needs to — on the machine, not just in a data center.
Is SubThought open source?
Our core repositories — Premise Language, Sentience, Worlds, and Packages — are publicly available on GitHub. Enterprise features, the Mind Server Platform, and commercial support are available through our paid plans.
How does SubThought handle safety in autonomous environments?
Safety boundaries are embedded directly into the GILs cognitive loop — not bolted on after the fact. Hard constraints are checked at every decision cycle, meaning an agent physically cannot take actions outside its defined operational boundaries, regardless of what it has learned.
